About Me

Pippa Watson Rees BACP Accredited psychodynamic counsellor in Edinburgh

Hi I’m Pippa

As a qualified psychotherapist and counsellor, registered with the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists, my work integrates thirty years of clinical experience and professional training.

I support adults, couples and new parents across a broad range of issues and offer brief counselling (6–24 sessions) or longer-term and open-ended therapy.

I have been married for 24 years and have 3 teenage children.

Professional background

I’m also a qualified Occupational Therapist with 13 years experience working in the NHS in hospital & community services, including working with people with SEND, neurodiversity and mental health challenges. I have worked in further & higher education, supporting students one-to-one and in groups, 5 years within the NHS as a GP Counsellor, as well as in various charity settings. I recently finished working at Relationship Scotland, where I was working as a Couples Counsellor. Since 2021, I’ve worked part time in a perinatal service offering postnatal groups and individual counselling sessions to new and expectant parents.

My approach

My aim is always for my clients to feel as if they are in the right place, able to trust me with their story. I help you to think about how the past relates to the present, what gets re-enacted in the ‘here and now’ and your early relationship history or patterns.

We will be looking at the triggers and how the unconscious works within these connections. I help you explore your difficulties using a relational approach based in the psychodynamic tradition, where our client-therapist relationship plays a key part in our trusted collaboration.
